Megan has completed her Masters at NTNU under the supervision of Dr Waugh, Veerle Jaspers (NTNU) and Geir Wing Gabrielsen (Norwegian Polar Institute). She is looking at the effect of pollution on pathogen infections in kittiwakes.

Jose Castrano Ortiz


Jose has completed his Masters at NTNU. He completed two components. One component supervised by Veerle Jaspers (NTNU) looking at pollutant levels in Norwegian raptors. The other component was supervised by Dr Waugh, where he looked at the effect of pollutants on the virus induced immune response in chicken fibroblasts in vitro.

Sharon Nyari


Sharon Nyari is currently completing her PhD at the University of the Sunshine Coast, (USC) Australia, working on the development of a anti-chlamydial vaccine for the koala. She is supervised by Prof Peter Timms (USC), and co-supervised by Dr. Waugh (NTNU).

Isabelle Russell


Isabelle completed a project on chlamydial infections in koalas under the supervision of Dr Waugh at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2015. Isabelle since received a 50,000 Euro scholarship to study in a competitive International Masters program. Isabelle, 22, was one of just 35 students chosen worldwide for the Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Evolutionary Biology (MEME), which will see her studying in Sweden, the Netherlands, France and Germany over the next two years (2016-2018).

Alexander Badry


Alex completed a Masters under the supervision of Dr Waugh at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2017/2018. Alex worked on elucidating the mechanism involved in pollution induced pathogen amplification in chickens. Alex has now been accepted into a PhD program at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, Germany, under the supervision of Dr. Oliver Krone.

Vivek Gupta


Vivek received a Endeavour Research scholarship to undertake a research stay at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, co-supervised by Dr Waugh and supervised by Prof Peter Timms. Vivek studied the antibody response to Chlamydia trachomatis infections in humans. Vivek is currently working as a postdoc fellow at IIT, Roorkee studying the mechanisms of drug resistance in bacteria.

Shahaneaz Ali Khan


Khan was supervised by Prof Peter Timms and co-supervised by Dr Waugh during his PhD at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Khan has since graduated and has received a position as an Assistant Professor at the Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Bangladesh.
